Job Summary
The Steel Procurement & Logistics Coordinator is responsible for all logistics regarding our steel procurement process. This includes interfacing with the in-house coil coating facility, arranging warehousing, slitting (processing), and transportation.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists in creating and establishing purchasing procedures.
- Works to resolve any supply issues as quickly as possible, keeping management informed throughout the process.
- Evaluates vendor proposals to ensure all requirements are met.
- Is responsible for organizing, maintaining, and processing inventory, invoices, and receipts from steel processors in a timely manner.
- Tracks material, PO creation, and PO maintenance of domestic and international product.
- Notifies Supply Chain management of incoming material and BOL numbers.
- Ensures inventory accuracy and reconciliation, conducting floor checks as needed.
- Monitors freight and approves freight invoices, verifying costs and updating QAD with accurate information.
- Calculates the cost of lost material, filing and tracking claims with vendors as needed.
- Analyzes steel trends and reports them to the Procurement Manager.
- Conducts backflush transactions, submitting invoices to accounting each week.
- Generates steel inventory reports from QAD and sends them to management.
- Creates freight reports, invoice reports, and other ad hoc reports upon request.
- Is reliable and punctual in reporting for work as scheduled.
- Maintains professionalism at all times.
- Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with keen attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 as well as ERP software (QAD, SAP, JD Edwards or similar systems).
- Extensive knowledge of contract principles and procedures.
- Resilient with a positive attitude.
- Self-motivated and solid work ethic.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Steel processing experience preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 35 lbs. unassisted
- Occasional standing, walking
- Frequent sitting
