Packaging Coordinator

Reports To:  Director of Supply Chain
Job Summary

The Packaging Coordinator works closely with the Packaging Supervisor to update packaging schedules. S/He releases work orders daily for fulfillment and researches product shortages as necessary.  

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Updates daily packaging schedule based on input from the packaging supervisor and demand planner.
  • Updates the inventory and planning system daily with current information/data.
  • Runs backlog reports daily to determine shortages within the system.
  • Audits backlog reports using customer scorecards, researching product shortages.
  • Releases work orders to packaging department with supporting documents.
  • Prints corresponding pallet tags and UPC codes for each work order and provides it to the packaging supervisor with the work orders.
  • Runs planned order report and determines what to produce for inventory stock.
  • Abides by customer specs requested from sales when preparing orders.
  • Reconciles completed work orders by verifying component consumption is accurate.
  • Receives completed work orders from packaging supervisor and closes them in the system.
  • Communicates with sales and shipping any shortfalls and potential product availability dates.
  • Initiates cycle counts when inventory levels are low to verify accuracy.
  • Alerts IT to low levels of packaging supplies (labels, paper, etc.) for replenishment.
  • Works with other departments/locations to meet their inventory needs.
  • Backs up the Production Scheduler in his/her absence.
  • Is reliable and punctual in reporting for work as scheduled.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and previous experience with QAD a plus
  • Resilient with a positive attitude
  • Self-motivated and solid work ethic
  • Flexibility
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Associate degree preferred
  • Previous experience in business planning and scheduling preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. unassisted
  • Occasional standing and walking
  • Frequent sitting, bending, pushing, and pulling
